Overview

Building upon earlier work at Early Psychosis Prevention and Intervention Centre (EPPIC) and the Personal Assessment and Crisis Evaluation (PACE) Clinic, this research stream is well established. It focuses on a broad range of biological and psychosocial investigations and interventions in prodromal and first-episode psychosis and mania.

Current Research Projects

The STAGES Study
A randomized placebo controlled trial of intensive psychosocial treatment plus or minus anti-psychotic medication for first episode psychosis with low-risk of harm or aggression.

The SHARP Study
This project prospectively investigates the role of trauma, stress and hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal (HPA) axis functioning in the early phase of psychosis and its relationship to symptom severity, treatment response and neuropsychological impairment.
